C-17
Telephonics provides the entire radio management and control system for the C-17 Program as well as supporting communication system integration. Telephonics has worked closely with Boeing with updates and support for the Integrated Radio Management System (IRMS) and is now engaged in a modernization program to incorporate an open system architecture solution into the aircraft. The Communication Open System Architecture (COSA) program will provide a full digital solution with software configured growth capability.
F/A-18
Telephonics' unique design provides the F/A-18E/F with superior communications functionality. Our Amplifier Control Intercommunication (ACI) provides secure communications for onboard radios and the Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS). The ACI controls radio relay, IFF, ILS and crypto functions. Two unique features have been incorporated into the system: a voice-activated switch (VOX) for crew interphone communications and extensive built-in testing that automatically checks system circuits and audio lines. System is also supporting Upgrades on older A/B and C/D models.
SPACE SHUTTLE
Telephonics was the original intercommunications system designer for the Space Shuttle. The Telephonics Audio Distribution System (ADS) was specifically designed for the Space Shuttle and provides audio processing, amplification, mixing, isolation, switching and distribution to and from all on-board crew stations, hard-line interfaces, and radio frequency interfaces.
The system, originally designed and supplied in the mid 1970's, has had excellent reliability, availability and performance since it was incorporated into the shuttle. The supplied system is a complex analog system that was the state-of-the-art intercommunications system. Telephonics made a commitment to develop a durable system that would perform under the rigorous space environment, and the fact that the system has now successfully flown for over 20 years is one of Telephonics proudest accomplishments.
