TILS GS-2000 Microwave Scanning Beam Landing System (MSBLS)
TILS GS-2000 incorporates microprocessor-based, state-of-the-art technology that reduces weight, improves reliability, expands capability and ensures logistic support. Telephonics Tactical Instrument Landing System GS-2000 (a collocated, pulse-coded, Ku-band ground station) is the latest addition to our successful scanning beam landing system family. Earlier models are operational with the Swedish and Finnish Air Forces. Similar systems (both split-site and collocated) are installed on U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships, U.S. Navy/Marine Corps air stations and NASA’s Space Shuttle. TILS GS-2000 is a military qualified unit that combines localizer and glideslope functions into a single, easily transported and sited unit. It can also be installed in a split-site configuration, as with conventional instrument landing systems.
TILS GS-2000 incorporates antennas of sufficient aperture size for all conventional operations down to Category II minima, and provide accurate, wide-coverage, localizer/glideslope information that is highly resistant to siting and overflight effects. Telephonics ground station also provides clean, flyable glide paths from 2° up to 8°. Lower glideslope angles are appropriate for fixed wing operations, whereas higher angles are useful for STOL and helicopter operations.
TILS GS-2000 is a microprocessor- based ground station that is continuously self-monitored. It contains features such as adjustable, low-elevation angle cutoff and adjustable azimuth clearance. The TILS GS-2000 can receive commands and send status/messages to a remote terminal. It can also be coded to provide station identification, weather conditions, center line offsets, etc. A local maintenance port on the GS-2000 can be attached to a laptop loaded with Telephonics supplied software. This laptop computer can be used to query the system status, to assist in LRU level troubleshooting, to adjust azimuth or elevation coverage zones and electronic boresight.
