Spatial Audio - Aural Positioning Technology

Designed for use on rotary-wing aircraft, Telephonics’ Spatial Audio positioning technology enhances listener intelligibility when multiple simultaneous audio sources are being monitored. If coupled with a threat sensor and aircraft orientation data, the system triggers spatial audio cues that are then annunciated to the pilot. By strategically spacing audio sources around the user's head, Spatial Audio positioning technology enhances user understanding of the location of flight obstacles based on the position of the audio cues. This elevates situational awareness and increases safety under adverse conditions, improving tactical responses and reducing operator workloads.

The Telephonics Advantage

    • Enhanced intelligibility
    • Greater mission effectiveness and safety
    • Improved human reaction times

Additional Benefits

    • Can easily upgrade Telephonics’ Secure Digital Intercommunications (SDI) system with spatial audio positioning technology
    • Aural cues are relative to the pilot’s head if a head-tracking helmet ensemble is used
