Telephonics - Lifesaving Search and Rescue Technology

On September 11th, 2014 Telephonics’ technology was called into action to support a life and death search and rescue operation. A U.S. Navy sailor on the USS New York fell overboard, 300 miles off the coast of South Carolina in the dead of night. Answering the distress call was the HSM-46 detachment from the USS Jason Dunham, flying the MH-60R integrated with Telephonics’ AN/APS-147. The HSM-46 crew was able to locate and rescue the sailor using our radar system after he had been in the water for several hours.
