Press Releases on July 09, 2012

  • Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE:GFF), announced today the delivery of its first production AN/APS-508 multi-mode radar system to MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) in support of the Canadian Department of National Defence (CDND), for installation onto the CP-140 Aurora aircraft, the Royal Canadian Air Force’s long-range maritime patrol aircraft. The AN/APS-508 Radar, jointly developed and built by Telephonics and MDA, and manufactured by Lockheed Martin Canada (LMC), provides an advanced multi-mode Surveillance/Imaging capability including a superior ground moving target indicator mode. MDA, Telephonics, and LMC will deliver an initial production quantity of nine AN/APS-508 Radar systems and life cycle spares to the CDND for their existing CP-140 fleet. This complements the previously delivered Prototype/Advanced Development Model systems which were used to support integration, installation, and operational evaluation of the new radar on the Aurora aircraft.

“We are very pleased to provide MDA and the CDND with these AN/APS-508 radar systems. We believe this is the best, most cost effective system available for the maritime surveillance missions of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and will serve the Canadian Government well for many years to come. The teamwork between Telephonics, MDA, LMC, and Canadian DND has helped make this a very successful project.” said Mr. Joseph J. Battaglia, Telephonics’ President and CEO.
