Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Interrogators

Designed for command and control, the AN/UPX-44, -505 and -506 monopulse and AIMS Certified, All-Mode IFF interrogators enable air traffic controllers and air defenders to identify military and civilian aircraft, verify forces as friendly and determine their bearing and range. Our interrogators are deployed in fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, shipboard, ground-based and mobile radar installation sites. All three systems comply with U.S. and international specifications that define interrogator modes, performance, control, reporting and interface. To easily introduce performance upgrades, the system uses common module hardware and software for the detection, interrogation, identification tracking and data extraction of small targets in severe environments.

The Telephonics Advantage

    • Flexible open-system architecture
    • Adaptive interrogation rate management
    • Advance code correction algorithms
    • Unique digital-extraction technology
    • Can be used in Monopulse Secondary Surveillance Radar (MSSR) applications working in conjunction with primary radar systems
    • All-mode and AIMS Certified, operating in All-Mode Mark XII, Mode 5, Mode S and Multi-channel Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B)
    • State-of-the-art monopulse technology, target extractor processing and scan-to-scan correlation
    • Multi-channel passive ADS-B detection and reporting

Additional Benefits

    • Built-in technology growth path
    • High-speed signal processing
    • Delivers reply processing, target detection and tracking in all interrogator modes
    • Capable of operation with two-channel Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) or MSSR three-channel antenna configurations
