  • Telephonics First to Complete DoD AIMS certification for AN/UPX-40(V)1 ALL-MODE IFF Interrogator

Press Releases on October 26, 2011

  • Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Griffon Corporation (NYSE:GFF), announced today that it has received confirmation from the US Department of Defense “Air Traffic Control Radar System Identification Friend or Foe Mark XII/XIIA/Mode S, Systems” (DoD AIMS) Program Office that its AN/UPX-40(V)1 ALL-MODE Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) Interrogator has successfully completed 03-1000A (CN3) Box Level Certification.

This is a significant accomplishment for Telephonics as this is the first and only ALL-MODE system to be fully certified for Mark XII, Mode 5 and Mode S, positioning the Company for continued growth in this market.

Achieving the DoD AIMS 03-1000A “All-Mode” Certification is a significant accomplishment for the US Air Force that provides operators with the capability to more timely and accurate display of civil and military air traffic, delivers state of the art cooperative engagement capabilities using the most advanced combat identification techniques, and keeps current with new worldwide civil air traffic control (ATC) requirements.

“Telephonics is pleased to achieve this significant milestone, and more importantly, provide the added security and situational awareness for battle space dominance that Mode 5 capability in the AN/UPX-40 brings to the US Air Force and our warfighters”, said Jim Pitts, Telephonics’ Vice President, IFF Programs. This six-year project was a true team effort between Telephonics, the AIMS program office, and the Department of Defense.
