The AN/UPX-40 enables airborne interrogation mission systems to identify and position aircraft or ships as friendly or unknown, as well as determine their bearing and range. Telephonics' IFF systems are currently deployed around the world on U.S., U.K., NATO and French E-3 Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) and Airborne Early Warning (AEW) aircraft. The AN/UPX-40 is Department of Defense (DoD) AIMS certified for Mark XIIA and Mode S while complying with all U.S. and international specifications that define interrogator modes, performance, control, reporting and interface.
